Considering moving back to self-hosted Wordpress - I kind of miss it, and it's a much nicer platform to work from than LJ. Now I have a static IP address it'll be a much smaller PITA to deal with the DNS stuff too. Probably best to wait until I have a more stable computer though - can't be doing with the site barely being online.

Shouldn't mean much change here in any case - there's a nice plugin to crosspost stuff to LJ, so any real entries I may or may not make will get sent over here along with all the daft memes, Twitter roundups and writers block thingies.

In other news, got around to watching Final Destination 4 *steadfastly refuses to use confusing real name*. After the shitfest that was the third film I wasn't expecting much, but turned out to be pretty fun. :)

I am becoming disillusioned by the perceived length of FFXIII. 18 hours, 44 minutes and I just cleared the second of three disks. The second disk was noticably longer - roughly 11 hours as compared to 9.5 for the first one; the second, however, ended on a much, much more epic note and had a fairly awesome battle.

That said, I have just finally reassembled all six members of the party and gained the ability to select who I use in combat. I've chosen what seems to make the game insanely easy, defaulting to a Commando, Medic and Ravager; I've also set it up so they can switch to Commando, Medic, Medic if I need to, and Medic, Medic, Medic if the fight becomes that healing intensive for a short period (if you've been playing more than a few hours of the game, long enough to unlock the roles to start with, you should know my party just from that, as only three characters are capable of using the Medic role).

As I've said before, the battles go much faster, but that doesn't make them necessarily less complicated or easier. You need to keep an eye on the field, know when to switch roles, which roles you need, and keep an eye on who's targetting what. Keeping your party alive while filling the Stagger gauge (essential to a number of enemies at this point in the game) and trying to score five stars for the extra item drops is a good way to keep the game from going stale while playing through it.

I like the game a lot. There isn't a character I don't like (unlike other games, I'M LOOKING AT YOU YUFFIE). There's a brief scene where I actually stopped, shocked, thinking a character actually did something...

Also, I so hope that Nautilus Park turns out to be Golden Saucer Mk. II when I get back that way (it looked like it while I was there during the story). Assuming, you know, that they give me free roaming capability sometime before the end of the game. <_< (Which, because of the story, might not be entirely possible...)
